A dispute has broken out between two parties in Butwal's Constituency No. 2 after UML cadres entered the hotel where the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) secretariat is located, alleging that they had engaged in activities contrary to the election code of conduct during the election silence period. The dispute and scuffle broke out between Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and UML cadres at the Namobuddha Hotel in Intabhatti Tole, Butwal Sub-metropolitan City-9.

Police have stated that the scuffle broke out for some time after UML cadres entered the hotel, alleging that RSP candidate Sulabh Kharel had engaged in activities contrary to the code of conduct during the election silence period. UML cadres have accused RSP cadres, including candidate Kharel, of financial manipulation.

RSP candidate Kharel said that while they were staying at the hotel, an unknown group came and severely beat up the cadres at his secretariat. Rupandehi Police Chief Superintendent of Police Janak Bahadur Shahi said that although there was a minor dispute between the two parties at the hotel, there was no attack on RSP candidate Sulabh Kharel. ‘We have mobilized the police after receiving information about a fight between two parties in a hotel,’ he said, ‘There was no attack on the candidate as was rumored outside.’ He said that the search for those involved in the fight is ongoing, the incident is also being investigated and the situation is under control.

UML claimed that they had come to monitor the situation as the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) was influencing voters from the hotel during the silence period. ‘RSS leader Chitra Bahadur Karki was distributing money in Butwal Ward No. 11 Devinagar area at night when people were following him and a fight broke out after he entered the hotel,’ UML leader Baburam Panthi said, ‘It has been found that unwanted activities were taking place from the hotel.’ He said that the UML has retaliated against the unwanted activities taking place from inside the hotel.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate Kharel said that an unknown group of more than 20 people wearing helmets entered the hotel and beat up members of the secretariat. "I am safe, but my friends have been beaten up," he said. "People including UML leader Baburam Panthi are involved in the beating."
