Administration urges to maintain social harmony

The administration has stated that it will be vigilant against activities that could disrupt social harmony and religious tolerance in Rupandehi to prevent the elections to be held on Falgun 21. The administration has stated that it will closely monitor activities that could undermine social harmony and religious tolerance during the Holi festival of Hindus and the Ramadan festival of Muslims during the silent period before the elections. The Rupandehi administration has organized an all-party meeting in Bhairahawa to discuss the issue of maintaining social harmony and religious tolerance and eliminating activities that could threaten the elections. Rupandehi Chief District Officer Madhav Prasad Pokharel said that since both religious festivals fall during the silent period of the elections, they have been vigilant against the possibility that elements who want to disrupt the elections could disrupt religious tolerance.

In the all-party meeting, Kalpana Harijan, acting mayor of Lumbini Cultural Municipality, said that some chaotic elements are trying to create disputes and disrupt mutual harmony on the eve of the election and urged people to be especially vigilant.

Chief District Officer Pokharel said that internal security plans, including strict implementation of the ban on the sale and distribution of alcohol, border surveillance and precautions, and extensive security check procedures, have been implemented to prevent social harmony from deteriorating.

‘The administration has made a security plan by meticulously looking at every activity regarding the situation in the Lumbini area,’ he said, ‘The administration will not hesitate to take drastic steps as needed to maintain peaceful elections, social harmony, and religious tolerance.’
