The District Police Office, Palpa, has conducted a 'model voting' exercise to familiarize the election police with the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21.
Model voting was conducted to make the voting participants aware of the behavior and security issues they need to know while working effectively. They have also been taught how to build a polling station. Superintendent of Police Dipendra Panjiyar Tharu informed that practical exercises were conducted on topics such as the construction of polling stations, security arrangements at polling stations, and possible risks that may arise there.
He said that since 1,141 election police officers were given the model exercise, it would be easier for them to work at the respective polling stations. 'After being given practical knowledge about various problems that may arise at polling stations, everyone should work responsibly,' he said. The election police participating in the model voting exercise were taught practical knowledge about the behavior of women/men, senior citizens, people with disabilities, and pregnant women.
Information Officer and Deputy Superintendent of Police Homaprakash Chaudhary said that instructions were also given on the role of the election police during the model voting exercise program. According to him, the election police in 11 groups have been given practical knowledge about how to handle security risks and polling stations.
More than 1,400 election police and more than 400 district police will be deployed in Palpa, which has two constituencies towards the House of Representatives. In addition, security will be provided by the Armed Forces, Nepal Army's BOP and COP posts.
