Police have arrested a cadre of the majority NCP on charges of planting explosives at three locations in the district.

The District Police Office has said that 58-year-old Khome Tharu, a cadre of the NCP majority party living in Tinaiya, Banganga Municipality-2, has been arrested on charges of possessing a suspicious bomb-like object.

On Tuesday morning, a bomb-like object was found in Buddhabhumi Municipality-2, near Gorusinghe Forest on the East-West Highway, at the Bargadi Bridge of Banganga River in Maharajgunj Municipality-2, and near the Shivapur Ranger Post in Shivaraj Municipality-1. These objects were later deactivated by security personnel. A joint team of the Area Police Offices Gorusinghe and Pipara is arresting Tharu and investigating, said District Police Spokesperson DSP Ripendra Kumar Singh.

On Tuesday, the police have started an investigation into the explosives-related offense against Tharu under Chapter 7 of the Criminal Code 2074 BS.
