A Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Monday between Lumbini Buddhist University and Koyasan University of Japan for mutual support and collaboration in studies and research.

Lumbini Buddhist University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Subarnalal Bajracharya and former Vice President of Koyasan University Professor Yoshida Akeshi signed a memorandum of understanding . On the occasion of the completion of 10 years of sisterhood relations between Lumbini Development Fund and Koya Town Municipality of Japan  The memorandum of understanding was signed in Maunka, where an 18-member high-level delegation led by Wakayama Prefecture Governor Miyazaki Imuji visited Lumbini.

It was agreed to send students for short-term study and research, exchange experiences of members of various departments of the university, researchers and administrators, and conduct joint research and academic publications by both universities . Similarly, it was agreed to exchange academic information and educational materials and collaborate in joint workshops, conferences, symposia and lectures .

Former Vice-Chancellor of Koyasan University, Professor Akeshi, said that he was happy to have the opportunity to work closely with universities in both countries. This will help Lumbini Buddhist University's educational activities and programs reach Japan, said Lumbini Buddhist University Vice-Chancellor Bajracharya.

Both Koya Town and Lumbini in Japan are World Heritage Sites. Koya Town, located on the top of Mount Koyo in Ito District, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan, is established as the center of Japanese Buddhism.
