What you should know

Health screenings have been conducted at the doorsteps of senior citizens in Chidipani, Mathagadhi Rural Municipality-1, Palpa.

Ward Chairman Rajkumar Panthi said that 180 senior citizens of Chidipani underwent door-to-door health check-ups and distributed Ayurvedic medicines.

The door-to-door visit was aimed at improving the health condition of senior citizens living in more than a dozen villages of Chidipani and expanding access to Ayurvedic treatment. Ward Chairman Panthi said that blood pressure tests, health consultations and Ashwagandha Ayurvedic medicines were conducted at the doorsteps of senior citizens above 70 years of age.

The campaign, which started from Agahakhola village in Chidipani, has been conducted in all the villages and health check-ups have been conducted. Along with Ward Chairman Panthi, ward members, head of Chidipani Ayurveda Dispensary Dr. Shreedhar Adhikari, Bikash Kafle and other teams participated and distributed medicines after understanding the health condition of senior citizens.

Ward Chairman Panthi said that since senior citizens are invaluable assets of the society, they are committed to their health protection. He said that it is the responsibility of the local government to provide home-based services to those who cannot reach health posts and Ayurveda dispensaries due to geographical remoteness.

Dr. Adhikari, the head of the Ayurveda dispensary, said that such programs will be made more effective in the coming days. ‘Ayurvedic treatment helps in strengthening long-term health,’ he said, ‘Ayurvedic medicines like Ashwagandha have a positive effect on the physical and mental health of senior citizens.’

Regular health check-ups and consultations help in identifying diseases in time, said 96-year-old senior citizen Sitaram Acharya. He said that such an initiative by the local government has set an example of senior citizen-friendly service delivery.
