Due to lax security arrangements, some protesters damaged the door of the District Magistrate's office and the door of the accounts department on Friday.
The administration office, Bardiya, which is responsible for the security of the district, is itself becoming unsafe. Due to the weak security arrangements, some protesters damaged the door of the office of the Chief District Officer on Friday. The door of the accounts branch also suffered minor damage.
On Magh 13, a crowd of about 100 people entered the District Administration Office. They were about to enter the meeting room shouting slogans against the Chief District Officer when they were stopped by recently transferred Armed Police Superintendent Man Bahadur Shahi and his bodyguards.
The employees have complained that the Nepal Police, which has taken over the security of the District Administration Office, did not try to stop the crowd. Surendra Chaudhary of Barbardiya-4 said that the security arrangements at the district headquarters are becoming very weak. 'The district headquarters seems to be without security,' he said, 'There is a doubt that the elections to be held on Falgun 21 will be fearless.'
The protests taking place at different times are adding to the security challenge inside the District Administration Office. The administration used to prevent anyone except 4/5 representatives who came to the protest for talks from entering through the main gate. Now, not only the representatives but also the crowd has entered the office, affecting peace and security.
The Nepal Police is responsible for the security of the District Administration Office. The Armed Police Force and the Nepal Army are also mobilized as per the need and demand. Chief District Officer Gogan Bahadur Hamal, who is on leave in Kathmandu, said there was a serious security lapse.
