Lumbini Province is celebrating its Foundation Day today. The provincial government has also declared a public holiday across the province today on the occasion of the Foundation Day.
On the occasion of the Province Establishment Day, the Lumbini Province Government and the Province Assembly are jointly organizing the main ceremony in Deukhuri, Rapti Valley.
The day when the first meeting of the Province Assembly was held on 21 Magh 2074 is celebrated as the Establishment Day. Issuing a congratulatory message on the occasion of the Establishment Day, Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has said that Lumbini Province has been a successful exercise in strengthening federalism.
He mentioned in the message that the government is moving forward firmly towards making the province self-reliant, effective and accountable to the people. He mentioned that since the formation of the province government, necessary acts, laws and policy arrangements have been made for the effective implementation of the single and common rights granted to the province by the constitution.
He said that the province government has been prioritizing policy reforms, physical infrastructure development, education, health, employment, tourism and agriculture, including balanced development of social and economic sectors, so that the justification of federalism can be seen in practice. He said that the province government has been playing an active role by drawing the attention of the federal government to the issues of full compliance and protection of the constitution.
His message states that Lumbini Province has always been clear and firm in respecting the federal structure, practical implementation of rights, and ensuring resources. Acharya has said that since the establishment of the provincial government, good governance, transparency, and the end of corruption have been made the main basis of work performance.
The message states that development projects have been taken forward by strictly implementing the policy of increasing capital expenditure while controlling current expenditure. He has expressed his commitment that the government will move forward more firmly in the direction of making the province self-reliant, effective, and accountable to the people by strengthening and putting the rationale of federalism into practice.
Expecting the cooperation and positive role of all political parties, civil society, employees, and citizens to further strengthen the federal democratic republic, Chief Minister Acharya has said that joint efforts are indispensable for building a prosperous Lumbini Province.
