Long traffic jam in Daunne

There is a long traffic jam on the highway due to the mudslides caused by the rain in Daunne, eastern Nawalparasi.

According to the police, there is a 3-kilometer-long jam at the Bishwakarma Temple, about 4 kilometers west of Dumkibas, due to the slippery state of the highway, which has made it impossible for vehicles to cross.

The highway has become muddy due to the normal rainfall on Wednesday. The problem is that freight and large vehicles cannot climb the hill due to the slippery state of the highway under construction.

‘We are slowly allowing vehicles to cross one by one,’ said Police Inspector Thaman Rana, who was deployed in the field. ‘It is difficult to clear the highway until the sun sets.’

He said that he himself has been working to send vehicles stuck in the jam to their destinations. Vehicles that have been waiting in line since 3:30 in the morning to break the jam in Daunne have not yet been able to cross the road.

‘I have been in a traffic jam since 4:30 in the morning, now at 8:30 in the morning I have finally reached Bishwakarma Bhandir,’ said Binod Kandel, who stopped there. ‘Even with the highway in such a state, what are the contractors responsible for the construction waiting for?’
