The second meeting of the long-adjourned winter session of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly is scheduled to be held on Tuesday. The Provincial Assembly Secretariat has stated that the meetings of the seventh session will be held regularly from Tuesday.

The sixth session of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly ended on Bhadra 31. On the recommendation of the government, Provincial Chief Krishna Bahadur Gharti had called the seventh session of the Provincial Assembly for Mangsir 8. However, only the first session of the seventh session was held and adjourned. Speaker Tularam Gharti Magar said that the meeting was not held considering the festivals of various castes, conventions and other activities of political parties, and the National Assembly elections. ‘Now we are trying to hold the meeting regularly,’ he said, ‘Some bills have also been registered by the government for the discussion of the Provincial Assembly.’

Provincial Assembly Secretariat Secretary Durlabh Kumar Pun Magar issued a notice and said that the second meeting of the seventh session of the Provincial Assembly will be held on Tuesday. The notice states that the meeting will be held on that day as per Sub-rule 3 of Rule 12 of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly Regulations 2079 BS.

Provincial Assembly member and UML Chief Whip Tulsi Prasad Chaudhary said that due to the lack of regular Provincial Assembly meetings, discussions on some bills have been stopped and discussions are underway to hold regular meetings to pass those bills before the elections. ‘Everyone is of the opinion that regular meetings should be held for some time now,’ he said, ‘Many Provincial Assembly members have also suggested that meetings should be held, so the meeting has been called after discussion and held even before the elections.’
