Excavation work has been continued this year in Panditpur, Ramgram Municipality-18, West Nawalparasi, after historical structures and objects were discovered during excavations.

In the excavations conducted over a month in 2081, copper coins from the Kushan period and various archaeological materials were found. According to the study of the materials found and the report of the survey, archaeologist Bhaskar Gyawali said that an ancient religious tank and a structure that looks like a huge palace were found in the excavations being conducted this year.

During the study, it has been confirmed that the structures found in Panditpur date back to the sixth century BC. The site where the ancient structure was found is now a settlement and locals are farming. Dhanpat Yadav, the mayor of Ramgram Municipality, said that it should be acquired and further excavation and conservation should be carried out.

Panditpur has also been claimed as the capital of the Koliya Republic and the Mavali village of Buddha. However, stakeholders complain that the land acquisition and further excavation and research work have not progressed quickly due to the state's failure to allocate the received plan and budget.
