According to Dipendra Panjiyar Tharu, Chief Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Palpa, there is still a shortage of 409 election police officers at the district level. Out of the 179 people demanded for the Armed Police Force Nepal Regiment No. 35, only 49 participated in the written examination. According to the Armed Police Force, there is still a shortage of 130 people.
The deadline for applications has been extended by two days due to the low number of youth joining the election police. The District Police Office and the Armed Police Force Nepal Regiment No. 35, Palpa, can be applied for on Saturday and Sunday, the notice states.
Hom Prakash Chaudhary, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Police Office, Palpa, had sought applications for a total of 1,597 people for Palpa. Of these, only 1,194 people applied. He said that out of the 197 people demanded by the Armed Police Force, only 59 people applied. Although the police had invited applications for 1,418 people, only 1,108 people applied.
After the written exam, applications were invited again for the election police with two days (Saturday and Sunday), said Information Officer Chaudhary. The number of women applying has been comparatively less.
He said that the number of applications was low even after setting the age limit from 18 to 54 years. ‘In previous elections, the number of applicants exceeded the demand and the selection process was very difficult,’ he said, ‘We are surprised why they did not come this time.’ Those who are going to be recruited for 40 days get the same salary and ration facilities as police personnel.
