The Office of the Returning Officer on Friday provided election symbols to independent candidates. Independent candidates in two constituencies have been provided election symbols ranging from Tilhari, Kewalkar, Bakullo, Chesgoti, Bhangera, Selroti and Hotcase.

A total of 43 candidates have filed their candidacies in the two constituencies of the district. Of these, 21 are in Gulmi-1 and 22 in Gulmi-2.

Accordingly, Kumari Harikala Shree has been given a mudha, Narendra Prasad Rijal a camera, Farsuram Kandel a sparrow, Bhagiratha Thapa a manapathi, Bhumiraj Sapkota a coconut, Surendra Pandey a cell roti, Saraswati Lamsal a cup and plate, Khubiram Acharya a hotcase, Lok Bahadur Pun a tilhari, Ram Prasad Pokherel a helmet, Maheshwor Ghimire a scissors and Malta Ghimire a water jar as election symbols.
Similarly, in this area, party-wise, Karna Bahadur Thapa from Ujjaya Nepal Party, Gokarna Raj Bista from CPN-UML, Govinda Panthi from Kathmandu from Rastriya Swatantra Party, Janak Sen from Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Padam Thapa Magar from National Republic Nepal, Bed Bahadur Thapa from Dang from Mongol National Organization, Bhuwan Prasad Shrestha from Nepali Congress, Lal Bahadur Thapa Chhetri from Kathmandu from Rastriya Janamorcha, Shreeram Mahat from Nepali Communist Party and Sante Nepali from Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) are the candidates.
No candidate has withdrawn his candidacy in either constituency. Most of the independent candidates are the party's dummy candidates. Some independent candidates have entered the fray. It is being analyzed that the main competition will be between Congress, UML, RSVP and CPN, especially in Gulmi.
