When the party unification between the UML-Maoist Center was taking place, Ram Bahadur Chauhan was the UML district secretary and Pitambar Bhusal was a member. In 2069 BS, Chauhan was elected secretary at the UML seventh district convention. Bhusal lost to Chauhan for secretary.

The district committee of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) formed after the merger of the two parties was dissolved. They became only members. Then, shortly after the split of the NCP, Madhav Nepal formed a new party. Chauhan rebelled within the party and led a parallel party in the district. He became the district president and central member of the NCP Unified Socialist Party formed after the split. Chauhan is now a central member of the Nepali Communist Party, which was formed after the merger of the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led Maoists and the Nepal-led CPN-S.

Chauhan and Bhusal are fellow leaders from the same Malarani Rural Municipality-5, Bangi Village. While in the UML, Chauhan and Bhusal became each other's allies and competitors through internal reconciliation.

Bhusal is now the UML district president. Coincidentally, both of them are candidates for the House of Representatives elections to be held on 21 Falgun. Both Chauhan, 56, and Bhusal, 54, are graduates. While Bhusal is the candidate of a strong party organization, Chauhan is in the fray as an influential leader who can attract individual votes. Both are new faces.

Bhusal was elected as the chairman of Bangi VDC in 2054 BS at the age of 25. He is going to contest the parliamentary elections for the first time after 28 years. From student politics, to village, area, region, district member, Bhusal is currently serving his second term as the UML district chairman. Bhusal is known as a skilled organizer in UML circles.

Chauhan is contesting the parliamentary elections for the first time. Chauhan, a graduate in English, became a member of the Akhil group close to UML from his school life. In 2049 BS, he became the chairman of the Panini Multiple Campus Self-Village in Sandhikharka, in 050 he became the chairman of the Akhil district and central member, in 054 BS he became the district chairman and central member of the Youth Association, in 056 BS he became a member of the UML district secretariat and youth in-charge. He served as the Central Senior Vice President of the Nepal Accountants and Lawyers Association, the President of the Arghakhanchi Hospital Development Committee, and the President of the Community Police Service Center for a long time. He also became the District Vice President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists.

Another 49-year-old Ravi Shah from Bangi village is an independent candidate. He has been doing business outside the district and has now returned to the district and entered the election fray for federal MP.

Congress Lumbini Province Joint General Secretary Bishnu Prasad Khanal (Muskan) is also competing for MP from Malarani Rural Municipality-4 Khan. After completing his graduation, he resigned from his permanent job as a teacher in 054 BS and became a candidate for Khan VDC President. After that, he also became a candidate in the 074 BS Provincial Assembly 1 election. Khanal, who did not achieve success in both elections, is contesting the election for the member of the House of Representatives for the first time.

Khanal, who started his political journey from the Nepal Students' Union, became the village, area, district member, secretary, vice-president of the Congress Party and became its president. He is now the provincial joint general secretary. Along with politics, he worked as the publisher and editor of the Bhu-Sandesh weekly magazine in Sandhikharka for some time after Khan was defeated as the VDC president. He became the district president of the Human Rights and Peace Society. He has experience working in social organizations including the chairman of the Panini Multiple Campus Board of Directors.

Khanal, who is strong in the Congress district party organization, is discussed in Congress circles as a crooked politician and a skilled leader with the ability to win personal votes. In terms of party organization, personal influence and skillful strategy, it seems that there will be a fierce election competition between Bhusal, Chauhan and Khanal from the same municipality.
