The candidacy of former Minister of State for Home Affairs and former central member of the Nepali Congress, Devendra Raj Kandel, who had filed his candidacy for Nawalparasi Constituency No. 2, has been canceled.

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, West Nawalparasi, has upheld the candidacy of Lumbini Province Committee member Bhim Bahadur Thapa, who had registered his nomination from the Congress, and cancelled Kandel's candidacy.

In Constituency No. 2, there was a dispute over the legitimacy of the nominations after Congress' Thapa and Kandel brought tickets and registered their nominations. The party had given tickets to both of them. Thapa had filed his candidacy first.

Constituency Nos. 1 and 2 have published the list of candidates. Out of 57 candidates, only 55 have filed their candidacies.
