UML General Secretary and founding Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Shankar Pokhrel is going to register his candidacy. Although his registration time is set at 1 pm, he has not yet reached the Election Commission office in Ghorahi.
He will register his candidacy from Dang Constituency No. 2 at the Election Commission office in Ghorahi. UML District Vice President Manohar Budhathoki said that preparations are underway to go to the election office after touring the market with a cultural tableau.
He is going to contest again from Constituency No. 2 for the House of Representatives election to be held on Falgun 21.
In the 2079 election, he was defeated by the then Maoist Center leader Rekha Sharma by a margin of 193 votes in the same constituency. Sharma, who was a candidate from the Maoist Center and the Congress alliance, won by securing 26,880 votes, while Pokhrel received 26,687 votes. Pokhrel was elected as a Provincial Assembly member from Dang 2 (1) in 2074 and became the founding Chief Minister of Lumbini Province.
Kiran Kishore Ghimire is registering his candidacy from the Congress in this constituency. He is a candidate for the first time.
Central member and Dang district in-charge Nirmal Acharya is registering his candidacy from the Nepali Communist Party. Acharya was defeated in the 2070 Constituent Assembly election as a candidate from this constituency.
Joint General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya is filing his candidacy from the National Independent Party. Acharya is a new candidate. A resident of Dang, he has withdrawn his name from the proportional list and is contesting the election directly. Acharya is considered a confidant of Rashtriya Swatantra Party President Ravi Lamichhane.
