What you should know

Election offices have been established in both House of Representatives constituencies of Gulmi.

The main election office of both the regions, including Region No. 1, covering the eastern region of the district, has been established in the District Coordination Committee office in Tamghas. The Chief Election Officer is Krishna Prasad Paudel.

The Education Development and Coordination Unit office of Region No. 2, covering the western region of the district, has been established in Tamghas. The Election Officer is Harihar Paudel. The offices have been established for the February 21 House of Representatives elections.

There are 229,549 voters in Gulmi, said Rishi Ghimire, head of the District Election Office, Gulmi. According to him, there are 115,210 women, 114,337 men and two other voters.

The number of voters has increased by 5,273 compared to the last election. So far, there are 145 polling stations and 284 polling stations in this district, said Ghimire.

There are 122,186 voters in Region No. 1. In which there are 62,272 female voters and 59,914 male voters. 83 polling stations and 155 polling stations have been established in this area.

There are 17,363 voters in Constituency No. 2. In which there are 52,938 female voters, 54,423 male voters and two other voters. There are 62 polling stations and 129 polling stations in this area. Although Gulmi is a district of heavyweight leaders, the election campaign has not yet heated up.

The constituency of the House of Representatives No. 1 is the constituency of Pradeep Gyawali of UML and Chandra Bhandari of Congress. Of those who won the election in turn, Gyawali has been recommended alone by UML this time. Bhandari has been recommended along with more than a dozen leaders from Congress. Due to Bhandari, who describes himself as belonging to both sides of the Congress fold, the closest competitor to Gyawali is not yet decided. However, there is talk that Kamal KC of the National Independent Party will also be a candidate this time.

UML's Gokarna Bista has been recommended as a single candidate in Constituency No. 2. Bista, who has become stronger with a hat-trick win in the recent past, has not yet decided on a strong opponent in the field. Congress Lumbini Province Vice President Bhuwan Prasad Shrestha has been recommended along with more than a dozen leaders. Since the candidate from the National Independent Party has not yet been decided, Bista's opponent has not yet been decided.
