A female leopard, which has been causing deaths in Gulariya-5, Balapur for a long time, was brought under control on Tuesday midnight.

The leopard, which escaped from a community forest near the village, was brought under control after it entered a cage set up by locals near their homes.

The leopard had entered a cage kept by the Bardiya National Park and Division Forest Office and was brought under control. This is the first time that a leopard has been brought under control in a cage made by locals using their own technology.

Five leopards have been brought under control in the past two years. The injured leopard, which was caught in Rajapur, died on Monday.

Senior Assistant Forest Officer Ram Gopal Chaudhary said that in the current fiscal year, 5 people have died from leopards, 1 from tigers and 1 from elephants under the Division Forest Office.
