The cultural Magh festival has begun in Rajapur, Bardiya, on the occasion of Maghi, the great festival of the Tharu community. The 12-day festival, which began on Tuesday, was inaugurated by Rajapur Municipality Mayor Dipesh Tharu.
Under the patronage of the main organizers, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rajapur, Bardiya and Rajapur Municipality, locals dressed in costumes reflecting Tharu culture paraded around the city with various cultural tableaus.
A cultural program was presented on the stage along with original Tharu dance. The organizers have announced that free entry has been arranged for four days on the occasion of Maghi. Krishna Regmi, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bardiya, said that a fee will be charged for the other eight days of the festival.
