Waterfowl census has begun in Bardiya from Monday. The waterfowl census, which will begin from Thakurdwara in Bardiya National Park, began on Monday morning.

The census will be conducted in places where birds are seen, including Badhaiyatal, the park area, Satkhluwa Lake, buffer zone, community forest.

Ram Bahadur Shahi, president of the Nepal Bird Experts Association and Banke and Bardiya coordinator of the water bird census, said that 60 enumerators have been deployed for the water bird census.

The two-day bird census is being conducted with the support of the National Nature Conservation Fund, Hotel Guide Association, Nature Guide, Z SL, Ujjaya Nepal, Han, Sibuepul and Bardiya National Park.

Last year, 3,204 water birds of various species were counted in Bardiya. Last year, 899 of 15 species were counted in Karnali, 593 of 30 species in Geruwa, and 1,712 of 45 species in Badhaiyatal, said Bardiya National Park Conservation and Information Officer Saroj Mani Poudel.
