Young entrepreneur Taufiq Ahmed Khan has announced that he will be running for the post of member of the House of Representatives from Rupandehi-5. Saying that the country cannot run on old parties, he, filled with youthful enthusiasm and energy, said that he would not back down if given a ticket by the National Independent Party.

Talking to journalists in Lumbini, he said, "I wanted to file my candidacy as a youth because the country and the people have suffered because the parties that have been in power in the country have not been able to do anything." The 38-year-old Khan, who holds an MBA from Bangalore, India, is popular among the youth of Lumbini.

He said that if Lumbini can be branded properly, there is an opportunity at hand. "I have many innovative and entrepreneurial plans, skills and knowledge to utilize this opportunity," he said, "That is why I am going to create self-employment for the youth by introducing the Right Person Right Place scheme through this program."

Khan, who graduated in Economics from Delhi University, is knowledgeable about carbon credits and data mining. Therefore, he said that he has planned to create self-employment by educating the youth about the work to be done to reduce Lumbini's environmental pollution and analyze data.

‘The youth movement took to the streets last Bhadra to end the growing nepotism, favoritism, discrimination and misrule in the country,’ he said, ‘That is why it is time for the youth to not only get excited but also wake up and take the initiative for the country, so I have also taken the initiative.’

He said that the role of the youth is not only in participating in the elections but also in playing an active role before, after and during the elections. ‘Because, the youth themselves are the driving force of democracy,’ he said, ‘How strong the democracy of any country is depends on the role played by the youth in the periodic elections of that country.’ For this, he said that all the youth around Lumbini should be prepared and should not lag behind in choosing a young leader like him who has a clear vision and mission. He also urged them to give them an opportunity to prove themselves by working.
