Young businessman Vijay Kandel has announced that he will be running for the House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21 from Nawalparasi (Susta West) Constituency No. 1.
Kandel, who said that he would not remain in the party working committee after the Ujjaya Nepal Party merged with the National Independent Party, is also going to contest the election. Kandel, a permanent resident of Susta-3 Nawalparasi, is the founding central member of the Ujjaya Nepal Party. Announcing his candidacy, Kandel says that he has decided to enter the election fray for reforms in the country's economy and diplomacy, among other issues.
'In the past, the country and the people suffered because elected leaders forgot that they were the people's representatives and pursued personal interests. That is why people like us are forced to enter politics,' says Kandel.
Kandel has returned home after living in Australia for a few years. Kandel, who started his business soon after returning to Nepal, is currently operating half a dozen 'Hygienic Meat Center' businesses in Kathmandu and Chitwan. Apart from this, he is involved in businesses such as HMC Foods, Hygienic Agro Tourism Farm, Hotel Restaurant.
Earlier, he led the 'Jagyo Nepal' campaign to make Kathmandu dust-free. In the 2079 elections, Kandel contested from Kathmandu Constituency No. 5.
