A 'Three Minutes with the Driver' campaign has been launched in Palpa to reduce accidents. The District Traffic Police and the District Police Office are going to launch the campaign to reduce the increasing number of road accidents.
District Traffic Police Chief Khemananda Pangeni said that the district police and traffic police have started this program under the community police partnership program on highways and internal roads.
Traffic education will be provided to drivers of public vehicles, cars, motorcycles, and scooters under the campaign starting from Tansen Bus Park. The Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Butwal, has conducted the awareness program in the district. Drivers will be informed about traffic signs, speed limits, not driving after drinking alcohol, and mandatory use of helmets and seat belts, said District Police Chief and Superintendent of Police Dipendra Panjiyar Tharu. “Drivers’ alertness and responsible behavior reduce the risk of accidents,” he said. “We will make them aware of issues such as not driving at high speeds, not using mobile phones, not driving after drinking alcohol, and not engaging in risky behaviors such as overtaking.”
Assistant Chief District Officer Rishiram Subedi said that there will be effective and practical measures to reduce road accidents. ‘Such awareness given in a short time will focus the attention of the driver on the rules,’ he said, ‘This will help reduce negligence during the operation of the vehicle.’ Deputy Superintendent of Police Hom Prasad Chaudhary emphasized that traffic rules and signs should be followed at all times while driving. ‘Safety equipment like helmets and seat belts should be used mandatorily,’ he said, ‘You should conduct regular technical checks of your vehicle and keep the brakes, lights and tires in good condition.’
Drivers, community service centers, employees and office bearers of various transport entrepreneurs’ affiliated committees participated in the campaign launch program.
