Of the four sugar mills in West Nawalparasi, only two have come into operation this year.

Since the crushers give cash immediately, farmers have been buying sugarcane at a slightly cheaper price than the market price. Sugar mills, on the other hand, weigh the sugarcane and prepare invoices and pay only after some time.
