Police have arrested a person on charges of abusing Dhaneshwor Nepal, Vice Chancellor of Nepal Sanskrit University.

The arrested person is Sher Bahadur Pariyar, 39, of Sundarnagar Tole, Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City-6, District Police Spokesperson DSP Chakra Bahadur Shah said.

Pariyar was arrested on Poush 18 from Simaltara, Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City-1 and remanded for seven days by the District Court, he informed.

On Poush 22 in the morning, some people entered the residence of the Vice-Chancellor in Beljhundi, Tulsipur-18, and beat him up by smearing him with moss. They also beat up the head of the university's general administration branch, Khim Bahadur KC, and Nepal's personal secretary, Cholendra Rijal.

During the abuse, they chanted slogans such as "Long live the majority of the NCP" and "Long live the All Revolutionary Party". The ANNFSU (Revolutionary) Lumbini Province Committee took responsibility for the incident.

Lumbini Province In-charge of the Revolutionary Party Prem Prashant Bohara issued a press release and took responsibility for the incident. The statement took responsibility for the action, making eight different allegations of corruption and irregularities.
