A young man has been arrested in Tulsipur on charges of beating and killing his wife during a dispute. Suman Ale Magar, 21, of Keraghari, Shantinagar Rural Municipality-2, has been arrested by the police on charges of murdering his 17-year-old wife, Khimi Pariyar.

Suman had beaten Khimi while she was staying at the Rukumeli Guest House on New Road, Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City-5 on the morning of December 12. Khimi, who was seriously injured in the beating, was taken to Care City Hospital in Nepalgunj for treatment on December 13.

Khimi died on the morning of December 18 during treatment at the hospital. After receiving information that the body had been brought home and the funeral was being held, the police immediately reached the house and stopped the funeral. Suman, who was absconding after the incident, was arrested while hiding in the Shishir Guest House on New Road, Tulsipur-5, on the night of December 18, said District Police Spokesperson DSP Chakra Bahadur Shah.

The deceased Khimi's mother Rammaya Damai had filed a complaint against her own son-in-law in a 'duty killing' case on December 19. The murder accused Suman was remanded in custody for seven days by the Dang District Court on Monday and further investigation is underway, DSP Shah said.
