Local residents, including leaders of various political parties, have submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister demanding the establishment of an area administration office in Thada, Shitaganga Municipality-3.
Mayor Chhabilal Poudel, people's representatives, former people's representatives and other leaders of all parties reached Kathmandu on Sunday and submitted a memorandum.
Locals complain that Shitaganga in Arghakhanchi was left out when the Sushila Karki government decided to establish area administration offices in nine different districts of the country. Shitaganga Deputy Mayor Geeta Bhat Chhetri said that Home Minister Aryal had assured to take the initiative to establish an area administration office.
Shitaganga's all-party and stakeholders had also submitted a memorandum to the then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, demanding an area administration office in Thada. At that time, Lekhak had assured to take the initiative. Mayor Poudel said that since it takes two days to reach the district headquarters Sandhikharka from a geographically remote village, an area administration office should be established in the municipality headquarters Thada for the convenience of citizens.
‘The previous government had assured us,’ he said, ‘while the current government has decided on 9 places, Shitaganga in Arghakhanchi has been left out. We have reached the Home Minister along with the city team, all-party, and all-sided representatives to draw the government’s attention to that.’
