UML has unanimously recommended the single name of Bishram Prasad Chaudhary from Kapilvastu Constituency No. 1 for the House of Representatives candidate. The meeting of the party's Constituency No. 1 Regional Committee held on Sunday recommended Chaudhary's single name.
The decision was taken by a meeting chaired by UML Regional Committee Chairman Shankar Pandey, Banganga Nagar Chairman Somnath Aryal said.
Earlier, the UML Banganga Nagar Committee meeting held last Friday had also recommended Chaudhary's single name. Chaudhary, who was recommended, is also a member of the Constituent Assembly.
The name of UML's newly elected Central and Eastern Land Reforms and Cooperatives Minister Balram Adhikari was not included in the recommendation. Earlier, the elected Adhikari wanted to be a candidate in Constituency No. 1, but the leaders and workers did not agree to his name. Adhikari's supporters had tried their best to get the recommendation. However, sources said that he backed out when the atmosphere was not in Adhikari's favor.
Adhikari, who was a minister in the KP Sharma Oli government, is accused in scandals such as the Lychibari scandal.
