Drug dealer arrested by firing in the air

Banke Police have arrested a drug dealer by firing in the air as part of a drug control campaign.

Police have arrested 35-year-old Ilihas Ahmed, a resident of Rupaidia police station in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, India, near Ganeshpur, Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City-4.

A team deployed from the Narcotics Control Bureau branch in Banke has arrested him, the police said.

Ahmed, who tried to escape during the investigation, had difficulty in being arrested, and the police said they brought the situation under control by firing three rounds in the air.

When he was arrested and searched, 300 grams of brown heroin was found hidden in the front right pocket of his black jacket.

Along with the drugs, which were found packed in plastic, a mobile phone was also recovered from him.

Police said that the arrested Ahmed has been handed over to the District Police Office, Banke for further investigation.
