Two people were injured in a leopard attack in Manikapur, Barbardiya Municipality-6, on Thursday morning at around 7:30 am.

Police have said that two people were injured in a leopard attack near the Municipal Hospital in Manikapur.

53-year-old Jalbir Tharu and 25-year-old Ishwar Tharu of the same place were injured while walking on the road, said DSP Devendra Kumar Malla of the District Police Office, Bardiya. 

The leopard came from the Janajagruti Community Forest near the settlement and attacked them. DSP Malla said that Ishwar suffered injuries to his left foot and Jalbir's back.

The locals have become panicked after leopard attacks have started killing people in Bardiya for the past three years. They are becoming worried and angry after wild animals have started attacking the settlement.

11 people have died in Bardiya in the last 5 years. In the current fiscal year, 6 people have died in leopard attacks. More than 10 people have been injured in leopard attacks.
