Four major parties have recommended the names of five people from Krishnanagar Municipality in the district in the closed list for the proportional representation for the House of Representatives elections.
Congress, UML, RSP and RPP have recommended five names in the closed list for proportional representation submitted to the Election Commission.
While Congress has recommended Akil Mia's name from Krishnanagar, UML has recommended Sushil Kumar Srivastava's name. Mia is a former central member of Tarun Dal, while Srivastava is a former central member of UML. Similarly, RSP has also recommended the name of Mirza Rashid Beg from Krishnanagar. Beg is a central member of the party's public relations department.
Beg was defeated as a candidate for the Provincial Assembly member from Kapilvastu 3 (B) from Janata Pragatisheel Party Nepal in 2079. He then joined RSP. Beg was active in UML before contesting the Provincial Assembly member election from Janata Pragatisheel Party Nepal. Similarly, RSP has recommended the names of Pushpa Rajouria and Dinesh Kumar Gupta.
The two major parties, the Nepali Congress and the UML, have recommended two names each from the district, and one each from Krishnanagar and Banganga municipalities. The ones recommended from Banganga are Bimala Gaire of the Nepali Congress and Janjir Prasad Chaudhary of the UML. Gaire is a former central member of the Women's Association. Although her name was recommended from the district, she spends most of her time in Kathmandu and does politics. Most of the names recommended are young people.
After the major parties recommended five names from the same municipality in the closed list of proportional representation, Krishnanagar has increased its chances of getting more proportional representation members this time, said Rajat Pratap Shah, mayor of Krishnanagar municipality.
