Maiti Nepal has stated that it has rescued 284 women and children from various border crossings in Bardiya in the past year.
According to a report released by Maiti Nepal at an interaction program with media persons to control human trafficking and smuggling organized in Gulariya on Thursday, 284 women and children who were on a risky journey were rescued from the border in 2025 and handed over to their relatives, said Gayatri Rimal, head of Maiti Nepal, Bardiya.
Among those rescued, 284 are from Bardiya and 80 are from other districts. ‘There were 204 women and children under the age of 18 and 80 women and children above the age of 18,’ she said. ‘During the same period, 3 women and children who were subjected to labor and sexual exploitation have also been rescued.’
