Traffic closed due to non-payment for concrete bridge built in Dahare Khela

What you should know

Traffic has been disrupted due to non-payment of the concrete bridge built in Dahare Khela. The concrete bridge was built in Dahare Khela, located in Satyawati Rural Municipality-6, after it was always a problem during the rainy season.

Even after the construction of the bridge was completed, construction entrepreneurs have blocked traffic by piling soil on the sides. Rajeshwori Lumbini JV has carried out construction work on four bridges under the Road Division Office Palpa, including Dahare Khela, in the Rudrabeni-Bamitaksar section.

The construction work of the four bridges was carried out at a lump sum of Rs 223 million including VAT, informed Engineer Durga Gautam, Information Officer of the Road Division Palpa. The bridge, which was contracted on 22 Jestha 2080, was to be completed on 22 Shrawan 2082. Other bridges are under construction. However, the construction of Dahare Khela has been completed so that vehicles can move through it.

Bridges are being built on Dahare Khela, Gidi Khela, Bharse Khela and Nadeva Khela. Dahare Khela used to be very difficult during the rainy season. Dahare Khela, which is closed even when there is a little rain, swept away many vehicles during the last rainy season. Passengers have repeatedly suffered in this hole where black mud and debris flow.

Construction entrepreneur Bhagwat Giri said that traffic was stopped after the amount was not paid. 'The budget had to be paid to move on the bridge,' he said, 'We have not received payment of three and a half crore rupees for the Dahare Khel.' He said that when calculating all the bridges together, 130 million rupees are still due.

Senior Divisional Engineer Rampukar Jayaswal, Chief of the Road Division Office, Palpa, said that the payment was stopped because the federal government had not sent the budget. 'The bill has come but we do not have the budget,' he said, 'We do not have the budget to pay, it is difficult to even ask to open the traffic.' He said that the budget with the office was paid but the problem was due to the lack of budget.
