A fugitive defendant from Tansen, Palpa, has been arrested after 6 years. Police have arrested 40-year-old Sabin Kharel of Ward No. 6 of Tansen Municipality, who had been on the run for 6 years and 7 months.

Deputy Superintendent of Police and Information Officer Hom Prakash Chaudhary informed that the arrest was made during a search operation by a team deployed from the District Police Office, Palpa based on continuous police surveillance and special information. 

The Palpa District Court's verdict of 2076 Jestha 13 had sentenced Kharel to one year, five months and six days in prison and a fine of Rs 10,000 for the offense of polygamy and child marriage. 

Kharel was found hiding in a dormitory room in Ward No. 12, Nauranga, Bhatarpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan. He was arrested and brought to the District Police Office, Palpa and presented before the Palpa District Court for necessary action, informed Information Officer Chaudhary.
