Banke Chief District Officer Dil Kumar Tamang said that due to the extreme cold, local levels are distributing firewood as part of the cold wave preparation work and are starting various awareness activities to protect themselves from the cold.
The administration is also spreading messages to protect themselves from the cold, such as not going out of the house except for work, wearing warm clothes, and consuming hot and spicy foods.
Meanwhile, the Nepal Army's Bajradal Battalion Ranjha has provided firewood to the cold-stricken people in various places in the district, including Khajura, Purina, Phultekra, and Alanagar, said the battalion's commander, Major General Ramchandra Shrestha.
