Narayan Prasad Khanal of Sandhikharka, a Hindu preacher, has said that he will file an independent candidacy from Arghakhanchi for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on 21 Falgun. Addressing a press conference in Sandhikharka on Wednesday, he announced his candidacy, putting forward the slogan of development of Arghakhanchi.

He has been working in Qatar for a long time and has been doing religious activities, business and social work in Sandhikharka for the past 12 years. On his initiative, an old age home, Siddeshwor Shivalaya Temple, was built in Chutraveshi and Sanskrit classes are being conducted there. On his initiative, an old age home was built with an investment of about 20 million rupees in 2065 BS by collecting remittances from countries including Qatar and various individuals. He currently lives in the old age home.

Khanal gave the slogan of development at the press conference. He claimed that he would create an environment for youth to become self-employed by conserving seeds of various indigenous crops that are about to disappear, conserving varieties, and through agricultural enterprises in villages. Similarly, Khanal said that he would work on building well-equipped hospitals, colleges, drinking water facilities in all homes, irrigation facilities, and infrastructure development including roads in the district. ‘For a long time, Arghakhanchi was without a member of the House of Representatives,’ he said, ‘the pace of good governance and development lagged behind.’ I have been continuously raising the issue of good governance by doing social work in the district for 12 years, and I have announced my independent candidacy to work as an MP.’

He said that he has prioritized the Saljhandi-Sandhikharka-Dhorpatan road and Argha Bhagwati Airport. He said that he has moved forward to contest the elections independently due to the advice given by locals and well-wishers of the city and village to contest the elections.
