Schools in Butwal have been closed until December 14 due to the extreme cold. Butwal Sub-metropolitan City has issued a public notice, directing Mayor Khelraj Pandey to close community and institutional schools from Thursday to Monday.

‘Since the cold wave and thick fog have increased for the past few days, keeping the health of the students in mind, we request all concerned to close the school for three days.’ The notice issued by the mayor, Khelraj Pandey, states that the school has been closed for three days. Thick fog and cold wave have started to prevail in the Terai for the past one week. The municipality has instructed to close the school after the cold wave began on Wednesday morning.

Similarly, Tilottama Municipality has also declared a one-day holiday on Friday, Poush 11. Mayor Ramkrishna Khand issued a notice on Wednesday, stating that ‘due to the cold wave and thick fog, it has become difficult to conduct teaching and learning activities in schools, and keeping the health of the students in mind, a winter holiday has been granted to all schools on Poush 11, which will be one day off from the annual holiday.’
