As winter approaches, Ramgram Municipality in West Nawalparasi has distributed firewood to heat the main squares and markets within the city.
As the cold weather has been increasing in West Nawalparasi for the past few days and it has been foggy all day, Ramgram Municipality has distributed firewood to make fires in the squares within the city.
The municipality has stated that firewood has been distributed to the city residents who have to go out of their homes for work due to the cold.
Ramgram Municipality Chief Dhanpat Yadav said that firewood has been distributed free of charge in the city's main square, market area and crowded places.
Since it is convenient for daily wage earners and underprivileged locals to light a fire in a public place, firewood has been distributed in public places in 18 wards of the city. The work has been started immediately after the meeting of the Local Disaster Management Committee decided to distribute firewood in every square and provide warm clothes to underprivileged citizens. Ramgram Municipality had distributed firewood last year as well.
A cold wave has increased in eastern and western Nawalparasi. Due to which vehicles are forced to travel with their headlights on during the day due to fog on the main highway. To beat the cold, ordinary people are sitting by the fire in tea shops and squares.
