The deceased's father, Krishna Prasad Pokharel, confirmed on Friday that the body belonged to 34-year-old Manoj of Resunga Municipality-1, said Narayan Prasad Adhikari, Chief Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Gulmi.
The body found abandoned in the Panaha River 14 days ago has been confirmed to be that of a 34-year-old man from Tamghas. The abandoned body was found on November 20 in the Panaha River, which borders Resunga Municipality and ISMA Rural Municipality.
The body belonged to 34-year-old Manoj of Resunga Municipality-1, the deceased's father Krishna Prasad Pokharel confirmed on Friday, said District Police Office Gulmi Chief Superintendent of Police Narayan Prasad Adhikari.
He had some degree of intellectual disability after going missing from home on November 14. The body, which has been kept in a mercury refrigerator until now, is currently undergoing post-mortem.
The body was found lying face down in frozen water with the back of the body visible while floating in the water.
As relatives could not contact him, the police were also coordinating with neighboring districts of Baglung, Pyuthan, Arghakhanchi, Palpa, Syangja and Parbat to inform them about the incident. Finally, it was confirmed that the body belonged to a resident of Tamghas, the district headquarters.
