Patients are receiving free treatment after the local municipality of Gulmi signed an agreement with the eye treatment center to cover the treatment costs.
With the latest agreement with Kaligandaki Rural Municipality on Tuesday, 10 municipalities in Gulmi have signed an agreement with the Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh District Eye Treatment Center.
Musikot Municipality and Malika Rural Municipality are out of this agreement. However, these municipalities, which are providing services through camps, are also preparing for the agreement. The date of the agreement in Madane Rural Municipality is yet to be finalized.
After the municipality starts paying the patient's fee in partnership with the municipality, the patients themselves get free surgical treatment. In the district headquarters, Tamghas, patients have been undergoing surgical treatment by a senior ophthalmologist from the Lumbini Ophthalmology and Research Center, Bhairahawa, on the 11th and 12th of every month.
Recently, an agreement has been signed between the Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh District Eye Treatment Center, Gulmi, and Kaligandaki Rural Municipality, said Bir Bahadur Karki, Information Officer of the Eye Treatment Center.
The agreement was signed with the participation of Chairman Bed Bahadur Thapa and Chief Administrative Officer Krishna Prasad Marasini on behalf of Kaligandaki Rural Municipality and Chairman Akhileshwor Prasad Shrestha and Secretary Padam Prasad Pandey of Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh District Eye Treatment Center Gulmi on behalf of the eye treatment center. According to which, a comprehensive eye checkup and free cataract surgery camp will be conducted in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality on Magh 21 and 22.
In collaboration with Nepal Netrajyoti Sangh and Kaligandaki Rural Municipality, an eye treatment center has been operating in Purtighat since last Ashar.
According to the agreement, senior citizens with health insurance at the eye treatment center will be free of charge, other patients with health insurance will be charged only 20 percent, and the municipality will pay Rs 7,000 per patient for other patients, so patients have received free treatment.
This agreement previously included Resunga Municipality, ISMA, Gulmidurbar, Chhatrakot, Rurukshetra and Satyawati Rural Municipality. Only a short while ago, Kaligandaki and Dhurkot rural municipalities were connected. Eye surgery-related treatment is provided at the eye treatment center on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of every month. Eye examination, surgery, and discharge are performed on these 3 days.
Kaligandaki rural municipality chairman Thapa said that they have been sensitive to the eye treatment of the rural municipality residents and have made arrangements for free treatment at the treatment center, camp, and Tamghas. He has also requested the patients to seek treatment services.
