The Armed Police Force has seized 20 quintals of coffee beans that were being smuggled into West Nawalparasi by evading customs.
2,040 kg of coffee beans were seized at 4:30 am on Tuesday while being brought in 34 sacks near Ganeshpur, Sarawal Rural Municipality-7 of the district, near the Nepal-India border.
According to Santosh Rayamajhi, Superintendent of Armed Police Force Nepal Border Security Force Headquarters, the value of the seized coffee is Rs 2.244 million and the value of the tractor used for transportation is Rs 800,000.
The seized goods and vehicles have been handed over to the Mahespur Customs Office. The goods were seized while being brought to Nepal from India at night using a tractor to evade revenue.
