A fire has broken out at the Waste Management and Resource Center in Punyapur, Rapti Rural Municipality-2.
The fire that broke out on Friday morning was brought under control only in the afternoon.
The fire completely destroyed seven large and small machines, including a trust building. The Ward Police Office, Bhalubang, has reported that the fire caused a loss of over Rs 6.7 million.
Fire engines from Garhwa, mini fire engines from Rapti Rural Municipality and dozers were used to control the fire, while Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Army and locals also participated in the fire control.
It has not yet been confirmed how the fire started, said Chief Police Inspector Pushkar Singh Airi of the Area Police Office, Bhaluwang. Rapti Rural Municipality had been managing waste at the site. Recently, locals had been obstructing waste management.
