Niraj Chaudhary, 27, who worked at Hamar Tharu Ghar Tharu Restaurant in Rajapur Municipality-4, has been shot dead.

Tharu was found unconscious at home and was taken to the Teaching Hospital in Nepalgunj for treatment, where he died, said District Police Office, Bardiya Inspector Prakash Singh Karki.

Police said the bullet hit his cheek and both ears. Bullet casings were found at the scene, said Prani Karki. 

His body has been kept in Nepalgunj for postmortem and more information will be available after the report comes, he said. Police said the person who shot Niraj Tharu of Tulsipur Municipality-5, Dang, fled on a motorcycle. 

Police said they cannot provide detailed information about the shooting incident until the postmortem report comes. It is not clear who committed the murder and why. The District Police Office and the Area Police Office are continuing their investigation at the scene.
