Ramesh Chaudhary, head of the Madan Bhandari Highway Planning Office, Gulmi, said that public notices are issued when roads are closed for long periods of time. However, he admitted that notices of closures were not issued when minor work was being done on the road.

Due to the lack of information about the construction work on the alternative road or intersection, vehicles are not allowed to use the alternative road or travel in the condition that the road is closed. Due to this, passengers are not only facing problems of waiting but also of the time it takes to reach their destination.
Work is underway in many parts of the Ridi-Tamghas section of the Madan Bhandari Highway in the district. Minor work is underway in some places. There is no separate notice board for that. The road is usually opened only after a large number of vehicles are stopped.
In this section, the road from Ridi to Runkhadaha has been blacktopped in most places. In many places in between, the road is under construction. Due to this, vehicles running at their own pace and passengers reaching their destinations have to stop for 15 minutes to more than half an hour while work is going on without notice.
Although the problem of vehicles having to stop on roads under construction across the district is common, driver Sagar Fuldel said that it is inconvenient when vehicles have to stop without notice. 'The road is being built, we will not take it otherwise,' he said. 'If the notice had been issued, an alternative road would have been provided where there was one and a similar state of mind would have been followed where there was none.' There is a compulsion to stop from time to time without notice at 5/7 places where minor work is being carried out in this section.
Not only this, most of the roads in the district are under construction due to cutting, widening, gravel, drainage construction, slope and blacktop work. Most of which are being carried out on roads without notice. Due to which various problems arise. Work is being carried out on the main sections including the Madan Bhandari Highway Gulmi section, Kaligandaki Corridor Gulmi section, Rudrabeni-Bami section, Ridi-Kharjang-Simichaur-Tamghas section and Tamghas-Chhaldi-Indregaunda section, as well as on inner rural roads. Similar problems arise in these sections.
Ramesh Chaudhary, Chief of the Madan Bhandari Highway Planning Office, Gulmi, said that when the road is closed for a long time, a public notice is issued. However, he admitted that the notices of closures were not posted when minor works were being carried out on the road. 'We always tell businessmen to put up signs in the squares to inform them of upcoming works,' he said. 'We do not do that, but we put up notices in places where travel is difficult.' He said that he would again request that the notices be posted so that they are not stopped even for a short time without informing them.
