Gopal Chaudhary, a senior forest officer at the Divisional Forest Office, Bardiya, said that 59-year-old Gopi Tharu died when a leopard attacked him in the Kala Belbhar Community Forest on Friday afternoon. Two local women were injured while trying to escape the leopard attack. Indira and Manisha Dahit, who were injured while trying to escape, are undergoing treatment at the Municipal Hospital in Bardiya, said Prakash Singh Karki, a police inspector at the District Police Office. Chaudhary said that police and forest personnel have been sent to control the leopard with a cage.
