In the past 10 months, 15,038 foreign tourists have visited the Ramgram Stupa in West Nawalparasi, which houses the relics of Gautam Buddha.

The stupa, which is considered an important religious site for Buddhists, has now attracted an increasing number of domestic and foreign tourists.

The Ramgram Development Council has recorded that from January to October 2025, the highest number of visitors was 6,668 from Thailand and the lowest was 1 from France.

During this period, 2,327 religious tourists came from China, a country with a majority of Buddhists, 1,260 from Myanmar, 1,214 from Vietnam, 796 from South Korea, and 358 from Bhutan.

Ramgram Municipality Mayor and Ramgram Development Council Chairman Dhanpat Yadav said that since January 2025, data on the number of foreign tourists visiting the historic Ramgram Stupa has been started.

Yadav said that the municipality has formed a council to plan the promotion and development of the stupa, and tourism activities have also increased.
