The Lumbini Provincial Assembly Secretariat has made public the achievements of its second term. The Provincial Assembly Secretariat held a press conference in Deukhuri on Monday and made the achievements public.

Before the start of the seventh session of the Provincial Assembly, the Secretariat has made public the details ranging from bill preparation to committee activities, administrative progress and international cooperation. According to Provincial Assembly Secretary Durlabh Kumar Pun Magar, 19 bills have been registered in the Provincial Assembly during the second term. 15 of them have been passed. Of the passed bills, 14 have been certified by the provincial chief. Two bills are yet to be presented in the House. Two bills have been postponed. One bill has been withdrawn by the provincial chief. During this period, the Provincial Civil Service Act and the Local Service Act have been issued and implemented.

'Along with passing bills, the Provincial Assembly is actively working by supporting the preparation and implementation of annual policies and programs, budgets, bills,' he said. 'The Secretariat is working with the long-term goal of building a people-friendly, responsible and effective Provincial Assembly.' In accordance with the constitution and related laws, the Secretariat has been regularly conducting work related to administrative and financial management, physical infrastructure, security arrangements, strengthening information systems and member services and facilities.

The Public Accounts Committee, Provincial Affairs and Law Committee, Agriculture-Forest and Environment Committee, Physical Infrastructure and Development Committee, Social Development Committee, Economy-Industry-Tourism Committee and Privilege Committee have been conducting discussions, monitoring and directives as per their respective areas of work. It was informed that the approved budget for the current fiscal year 2082/083 mainly involved current expenditure in the first quarter and capital expenditure is yet to start.

More than 250 students and teachers have observed the Provincial Assembly under the ‘Access to Provincial Assembly Program’. The program on openness, accessibility and practice of parliament was held in collaboration with ‘Governance International Nepal’, said Lokmani Pandey, spokesperson of the Provincial Assembly.
