The Rupandehi District Police Office has arrested 39 absconding accused in various cases in the month of Kartik alone. The accused were arrested by a team deployed from the district and subordinate police offices.

As a result, a sentence of 26 years, 8 months, 25 days and a fine of Rs 86,835 was imposed, said DSP Suraj Karki, spokesperson of the District Police. According to him, in Kartik, a team deployed by the District Police and subordinate offices has seized goods worth Rs 15,993,657 illegally imported from India to Nepal by evading customs from various places.

According to the progress report of the District Police for the month of Kartik, 27 motorcycles, one car, 4 pickups, and 2 autorickshaws have been taken under control. Similarly, 32 people involved in smuggling have been taken under control and handed over to the Bhairahawa Customs Office, Belahiya, the Animal Check Post Office, Belahiya, and the Revenue Investigation Office, Butwal for necessary action. 

In Kartik, 174 cases of various nature have been registered. Of these, 91 have been settled. 83 are under investigation, DSP Karki said. "While 161 people involved in these cases have been arrested, 56 are absconding," he said. Police data shows that 26 people committed suicide in Kartik. 

In a month, the police have arrested 10 cases of drug trafficking and users and have arrested 15 people. 2,794 people have benefited from 82 community-police partnership programs in Kartik. 422 vehicles have been seized during joint checks by the District Traffic and District Police.

DSP Karki said that a fine of Rs 437,500 has been recovered from the vehicle seizures. Similarly, police data shows that 11 fire incidents caused a loss of Rs 25,352,750. 

Out of 96 lost mobile phone applications registered in Kartik, 14 have been found and handed over to the concerned wealthy individuals. Similarly, the police have collected a fine of Rs 253,000 from two tippers and a JCV involved in illegal riverine material and soil excavation and handed them over to the relevant municipality.
