Karki elected as chairman of National Folk and Couplet Song Foundation, Palpa

Rupesh Karki has been elected as the president of the National Folk and Duo Song Foundation, Palpa. Deepak KC was elected as the first vice-president, Ganesh Neupane as the second vice-president, Dhanisara Khamcha as the women's vice-president, Ram Krishna Thapa as the secretary, Meghraj Basyal as the treasurer, Sumit Kumar Ghimire as the joint secretary and Rupa Thapa as the joint treasurer from the 23rd general assembly and ninth convention of the branch.

According to Election Officer Shiva Devkota, Bijay Bamrel, Bharat Khadki, Mamta Koirala, Janakraj Aryal, Krishna Thapa, Govinda Thapa, Anita Gyawali, Mahadev Bishwakarma, Sima Saru, Aishora Karki, Niru Sunar, Bishnu Koirala, Suresh Rayamajhi and Chopi Kumari Gaha were elected as members. At the convention, Badri Pangeni, former central president of the National Folk and Dohori Song Foundation Nepal, said that folk and dohori songs are the foundation of Nepali culture.

He emphasized that the work to preserve the identity and originality of the country is being done and should continue in the coming days. Senior Vice President of the Lumbini Province Foundation Damodar Basyal, Province Secretary Rekha Bista and others said that folk and dohori songs are not just a means of entertainment but an important part of national unity and cultural identity.

Outgoing president Kamal Bhattarai has the ability to work in a planned manner for the protection, promotion and institutional development of folk and dohori songs. Newly elected chairman Karki said that the foundation is always ready to preserve original culture and folk traditions.
