What you should know

The new leadership of the Rupandehi Industry Association has been elected unopposed to all the posts. The 24th convention of the association is being held on Saturday. Election committee member Ram Prasad Acharya said that the elections were held unopposed on Friday after single candidates were nominated for most of the posts in the nominations held on Thursday.

Some of the posts where there were dual candidacies were declared unopposed after the candidates withdrew their claims before the deadline for withdrawal of candidacies on Friday.

Krishna Prasad Parajuli has been elected as the president of the association, Jeevkant Kafle as the senior vice-president, Hari Bahadur Khatri as the first vice-president, Yubaraj Acharya as the second vice-president, Suman Basyal as the general secretary, Vishal Belbase as the treasurer, Ashok Kunwar as the secretary and Raju Ghimire as the co-treasurer. The post of secretary (female) of the office bearers is vacant. Although Sharada Regmi (Bhattrai) was the candidate for that post, the post became vacant after she withdrew her candidacy on Friday.

Similarly, Engineer Kiran Kharel has been elected as a life member, Akhilesh Gupta Kasaudhan as the associate, and Tej Prasad Parajuli as the institutional member. Ramesh Prasad Acharya, Lal Prasad Basyal, Kashinath Khanal, Megh Bahadur Ghimire, Anish Kumar Kasaudhan and Thaneshwor Pandey have been elected as six open members.

Similarly, Parbati Giri and Dilu Shahi have been elected as two female members, Prajwal Thanju as member (Butwal Industrial Area), Narayan Prasad Khanal and Dillinarayan Pandey as two members from Butwal Sub-metropolitan City, Ghanshyam Poudel Sharma and Shatish Sapkota as two members from Tilottama and Omsatiya, Chakrapani Tiwari as member (Devdaha Municipality, Rohini Rural Municipality), Krishna Prasad Pokharel as member (Sainamaina Municipality, Kanchan and Gaidahawa Rural Municipality), and Tankanarayan Acharya as member (Shuddhodhan and Siyari Rural Municipality).

Although one person will be elected from Siddharthanagar Municipality and Mayadevi Rural Municipality, and one from Lumbini Cultural Municipality, Kotahimai, Samarimai and Marchwari Rural Municipality, the election committee has stated that the positions are vacant as no candidacy has been filed.

There is a provision in the association, which has a 33-member working committee, that 31 people will be elected from the convention and two will be nominated by the president. Preparations are underway to nominate the vacant positions from the first meeting of the committee. The committee has stated that the oath-taking of the elected office bearers and members will be held on Saturday.
